MySQL is an easy to use database that supports SQL (Structured Query Language) statements and easy connections using ODBC (Open Database Connectivity), Perl, PHP, or other methods. However, MySQL is limited to 500 - 1000 total external client connections by design. Since your MySQL connection is on a shared server with other sites, this may limit your connections at peak times. If you have a high-volume site (hundreds of hits at a time) that uses database access, you may want to consider designing your site with access to a commercially sold database that supports thousands of connections at a time.
